Amsterdam is known for its world-famous museums, such as the van Gogh museum, National Museum (Rijksmuseum) and the Contemporary Art museum (Stedelijk Museum). These are conveniently located in the Museum District. Museumplein apartments are generally light, spacious and luxurious.
Located between the southern side of the Canals, the popular Pijp district with its big market and many cafés and the Vondelpark, Amsterdam’s Museum Quarter is also a top location for offices. On the Museumplein regular concerts and cultural venues are held such as the Uitmarkt. In the winter the pond in front of the Rijksmuseum is transformed into a ice rink. The Museumplein is used for New Years Eve celebration.
Most of the buildings in this attractive quarter are from the 19th century and both Museumplein and Vondelpark are great for picnics and relaxing on the grass. Homes are spacious and known for their decorative ceilings, leaded glass and other decorative features. Reason enough to rent a short term serviced apartment in the Museum quarter.
The P.C. Hooftstraat is home to all the up-market international brands like Gucci, Chanel and Louis Vuitton while the Van Baerlestraat beckons with top-end local brands like Pauw and Vanilia. In the Jacob Obrechtstraat and Cornelis Schuytstraat you’ll find gorgeous little boutiques with very enticing storefront displays and a pleasant organic farmers market in the weekend.
From cosy café’s to plush eateries, you’ll see more residents than visitors eating out in this trendy upmarket area, giving it a uniquely local flavour with a particular charm and a cosmopolitan exclusivity.
